Here are 5 very helpful questions to ask a double glazing company before you commit to buy!
Choosing a good honest reliable company for your replacement windows and doors doesn’t have to be difficult. If you have the right questions, it’s not difficult to find a quality installer with the skills and experience required to give you the quality and service you are looking for.
So, before you decide to buy ASK:
1. How long as the company been established, and how many years experience do they have.
Generally speaking, a good company will have been in business a few years, without changing their trading name. A company that changes their name regularly may have something to hide! Here at Sunbeam Windows we have been trading as the same name with the same company directors since we began.
2. Ask if the company is registered to with CERTASS or FENSA (England & Wales only)
CERTASS and FENSA was set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation to ensure that replacement glazing is carried out to certain standards to satisfy the latest building regulations. Sunbeam Windows is CERTASS registered. All of our jobs will be issued with a certificate upon completion which is now a legal requirement should you sell your home on. Many smaller window companies don't offer this service which would mean you would have to pay your local council to carry out an indepentant inspection. This would mean an extra cost for you as a homeowner. Here at Sunbeam this is all included in the price.
3. Ask about guarantees
Many replacement window companies offer warranties of various descriptions and types, but what does this mean. Sunbeam Windows offer a fully comprehensive 10 years guarantee which is underwritten by Installations Assured Ltd who specialise in the double glazing industry.
4. Ask about recommendations
A good double glazing company should be able to show you letters from satisfied customers and possibly a portfolio of previous installations. When we come to your home to provide a quoationation we alwasy carry a couple of letters with us from satisfied customers. We even have one customer that lets us take new clients to their home to show off the conservatory we built for them, as they are so happy with the end result.
5. Ask about energy efficient glass
It is now mandatory for windows (and recommended for conservatories) that energy saving glass is used. However be aware the legal requirement is only an F rated glass. Here at Sunbeam Windows we offer C rated gas argon filled glass as standard but are more than happy to quote on A rated. Let's think about it.....would you buy a new washing machine with an F rating or automatically choose something more energy efficient? These energy-saving replacement windows and doors are good for your pocket and good for the environment.
Sunbeam Windows will always be happy to answer these questions and more. Why not contact us now, on 0118 9816532 we are alwasy happy to help.
